Drivers License

Drivers Ed tuition equips the learner driver for the K53 driver’s license test. Once qualified, the learner will receive a Code 08 / Code B driving license. This is for a motor vehicle, including a minibus, bus and goods vehicle, with a gross vehicle mass not exceeding 3 500kg. You must be 18 years or older to apply.

Step towards getting your driving license

  • The learner must have qualified for their learners license
  • Driving license bookings
    • Go in person to your nearest traffic department
    • Take your learner’s license certificate
    • Complete an application form for a driving license
    • Ensure that you have your Identity document (ID), R135.00 for the booking fee, and 2 x ID (colour) photographs
  • Contact Drivers Ed to set up your driver instruction appointments. Suggestions on the amount of lessons required will be recommended according to the level of experience of the learner driver

Driving license lessons will involve

  • Personal, patient one-on-one tuition
  • Collection & drop-off
  • Insured vehicle
  • Flexible appointments (ie. early morning / late evening / weekends / holidays)
  • Pre-trip inspection
  • Yard practice
  • Vehicle drive on the roads

On the test date

  • Be on time
  • Provide your booking receipt and learner’s license for validation to proceed with the test
  • You will be assessed by a qualified examiner
  • If a pass is obtained
    • Fingerprints will be taken
    • An eye test will be performed
    • R140 Issuing fee will be required in order to receive a temporary driving license
    • Notification on collection of your driving license card will be advised
